You should have seen the mechanical engineering I had to do on a brand
new cooker this week

BOTH door handles - upper and lower - mounted on nothing more
substantial than 22swg pressed tinplate. And it wasn't a cheap cooker
either.

Admittedly, GIMP ain't as stable/easy as it used to be.
They made too many "enhancements" too quickly and could
not keep up with the bugs and interactions. Nothing so
unusual about this - but it's still kinda depressing.

Many Linux apps/distros seem TOO eager to keep up with
Apple/M$ these days. They add lots of barely-tested,
mostly eye-candy, "features" and then can't keep up
with the fallout.

STOP IT !!!

IMHO the #1 feature of any Linux should be "SOLID",
"STABLE". If we want super-buggy CPU-wasting crap we'd
be using M$ ........

As for T-Bird ... well ... it is what it is. It's not
"perfect" at anything but "functional" for lots of stuff.
Unfortunately M$ recently changed the ways you could
connect to their mail and stuff - TBird is now BARELY
adequate. Oh yea, make it EASY to change passwords
instead of starting all over again ....

Someone has already found a way to connect to MS mail servers
(that no longer support POP3/SMTP) using nothing but a bash script:

https://gitlab.com/judyf/getmail_ms_oauth2 (*)

The Thunderbird people might get inspired, automate/polish/make
idiot proof the tedious setup and hopefully add similar functionality
to Thunderbird at some point in the future.

*)
It's just a bunch of MS API calls using curl with a whiff of OAUTH2
black magic. The setup is a bit tedious, but once installed and
configured it just works. I 've expanded that script a bit to also
support sending messages via MS mail servers. (Once you get the
necessary short-lived access token getting and sending messages via
their API are pretty similar)

Not exactly a short, transparent, script BUT it may be
exactly what I need for a current project !

Might. It hasn't seem to have changed very much
of late however. Hey, it's free - better click
the "Donate" buttons every once in awhile !

I never needed and will never need to connect to that MS crap.
