Which is exactly how I do it.

I use a debit card linked to an account that runs a permanent zero
balance, and that card is also linked to my Paypal account. Whenever I
want to make a purchase I just use the bank app on my phone to drop the
required amount into the linked account and then use Paypal to make the
payment.

I also use Google Authenticator so Paypal, Amazon, Microsoft or any
other account I regularly use can't be accessed without entering the
correct 6 digit pass code.

I used to use such a card way back in the 80 and 90s, a *credit* card
because you have more rights than with a debit card, still still have it
and still use it. However I use Paypal for online transactions, puts in
an extra layer of security between the seller and my CC.

According to Google maps its just over an hour from my place to the
street I lived in from 1974 to 1977 which in the same area where he said
he lived, since I'm further west it would be about 10mins less from your
place.

How about for 'Tap and Go' so that you don't have to keep topping the
account that your Debit card is linked to?

(Not proposing. Just exploring)

Dunno.

Don't really care where he lives. I just thought 40 minutes to anywhere
from here was a case of Google maps being ridiculously optimistic when
on any given day it takes well over an hour to get to the city :)

Oh you do care Darren, same as you care about where I live, so much so you
continually harp on about my house, its size, and its location. And you
wonder why others want to comment on yours. Truly, you are stupid.

40mins to anywhere the other side of the city is very optimistic except
maybe at 2-3am and even then you are likely to held up by roadworks.
Many years ago when I was doing solar I used to start at Port Melbourne
at 6am, back then it was possible to get there from my old place in not
much more than 30mins, now that's impossible.

Absolutely.

The last time I drove to the city was when we went to see Paul McCartney
at Marvel Stadium at Docklands, and that was an hour 20 to the closest
corner of the city to us on an early Saturday evening.

The wife does 2 days a week in the office and she's in a building in a
block on Spring St opposite Parliament house. If she leaves here no
later that 6 in the morning she's at the carpark by 7:15 and if she's
out the door no later than 3pm she's home by just after 4. Go over those
times by as little as ten minutes and it turns into a 2 hour drive.
