It gets brighter, but the longer wait, it gets closer to the sun in the morning, washing it out!

I'm at 38° also. I'm shooting it right at the moment, 5:30am local, at
about 8° altitude (started at 4°) with a portable setup, DSLR on
refractor. Sky is still pretty dark. The other images were from my
observatory, and the wall blocks everything below about 15°, so I had
to wait later and the sky was definitely getting light.

Right now I can't see it with my eyes, but it's a pretty obvious fuzzy
spot through binoculars.
