I am referring to the name 恵里香 .Is this influenced by the European
name which sounds the same (assuming that it does sound the same ,
I haven't actually heard 恵里香 pronounced) or is the similarity a
coincidence ? Does the name mean something ? I know the meaning of the
individual kanji but my dictionary doesn't say anything about the
combination.

The characters are being used for their pronunciation, their
phonetic value: E RI KA.

As is common, there are other pronunciations (readings) for
these kanji, so you may need to know which of the possibilities
is intended or possible.
