Minimum wage cleaners can get into my hotel room, I've never assumed it
has any security at all.

Exactly! Anything of real value? Bring it with you when you go out for the
day. In the evening, it maybe is a little bit more "secure", because the
staff usually work during days, not nights.

Come to think about, is there maybe a lock you can buy and put on the
inside and activate/deactivate from outside the door?
