ITVX is a British streaming service.

I can only use it on Chromium.

Why has Firefox not caught up with this?

It must be common to other streaming services.

I have an old ITV account, which seems to be accepted at ITVX

Looking at the browser console, I see enough errors like "cookies
misusing samesite attribute"
or CORS blocking theire requests
so I can't be bothered to look any further than that.

As Andy point out, that site is corrosive. Here are the errors that
Firefox notes when just visiting that site's home page (I don't have an
ITV account, but then the OP didn't specify a particular web doc there):

(line wrapping for the error log was disabled, and most lines are long)

This site appears to use a scroll-linked positioning effect. This may not work well with asynchronous panning; see https://firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/performance/scroll-linked_effects.html for further details and to join the discussion on related tools and features! www.itv.com

Firefox has its Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) feature which
includes their Total Cookie Protection.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/introducing-total-cookie-protection-standard-mode

Chrome is not so secure regarding handling of cookies. That is, Chrome
is the sloppier web browser. ETP in Firefox can be disabled per site.
I suspect this is a Site Preference, so if you purge Site Preferences
(and other locally cached data) in Firefox, like purge on exit, then
you'll lose that setting.

Not only does this site attempt to track you across domains, but they
also violate cross-origin requests. Some sites still attempt to use
CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing).

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Security/Same-origin_policy

A shitty site ran afoul of Firefox's higher security protection. The OP
could try disabling ETP at that site, but maybe he should go elsewhere.
