All my Firefox 'Translations' languages were uninstalled when I upgraded
to 122.0 from 121.0.1. The 122.0 release notes did not tell me this
would happen. The 122.0 release notes say only this:

The translations feature received an improvement in the quality of
translated webpages. The results should be much more stable. This
fixes issues where the content of a page could disappear when

By this point everyone should know better than to trust Mozilla
not to fuck things up. They've been breaking things consistently
for years now. The first time I remember was when they tried to
stop people blocking 3rd-party images by switching the pref name
of the setting AND the values of the setting. Apparently a couple
of teen geeks down in the coding cage decided that blocking
3rd-party shouldn't be allowed. There's no indication that these
decisions involve any more thought than that.

They've been doing similar things ever since. This past week I decided
to polish up my Firefox installs on 2 Win10 boxes. I copied userContent.css
and userChrome.css from XP over to those systems. I was not a bit
surprised to learn that the chrome folder must now be created and that
a new, special setting to break those files by default must be changed.
I actually researched it first because I expected something to be broken.

That was classic Mozilla. They added an extra pref to break a function
that's only used by a few knowledgeable people in the first place. Once
I found the setting it all worked as it should and my background image
has now replaced the oddly putty-colored toolbar. (Nothing else that I
see on my Win10 is putty-colored.) While Mozilla tried to block that, they
also offer dozens of ugly "themes" to do exactly the same thing, but
with less flexibility and less functionality.

So, if you want to always be the first on your block to try the new
Edsel then of course you should expect that it'ss going to break things.
If you want a good browser then don't be so quick to jump in. ESR
releases come out every 6-9 months or so. That's already a crazy
update speed for something as complex as a browser.
