I was staying at Boat of Garten over the weekend. I had a nose around
Strathspey railway station . Unfortunately no trains running just
yet.The was a small diesel shunter operating.

I was reminded the BR rolling stock are named after fish ( and other
aquatic mammals). I spotted a Haddock, a Clam, a Sole and a Sea Urchin.
I saw a guards van labelled as Shark. It seem the names date back to
the days of telegraph shorthand code .

The extension of the line to Grantown seems to have stalled due to a
re-alignment needed on the A95 to accomodate a tunnel .
