Following the recent thread in which Roland suggested that catching
people with invalid cards on Stansted Express trains was a Greater
Anglia money-making exercise I've been meaning to take a look at
Tottenham Hale, which I use rarely because I prefer Liverpool Street
and will always travel that way if I can.
As you come through the gateline there are signs telling you that
Oyster/contactless are not valid on SE. A prominent free-standing sign
say that Stansted Express is operated by a different train company so
these payment methods are not accepted.
There are further notices on both platforms (the headlines on the up
fully readable from the down) and there are PA announcements on the
platform to complement the on-train announcements.
I think Roland's cynical world-view is wrong, for a change.

Its news to me that SE is operated by a different train company to
Greater Anglia.

You weren't aware that most Tottenham Hale passengers arrive on the
Victoria Line? Or are you just nit-picking?

I don't have the stats at my fingertips, but passengers [invisible
words: "Wishing to go to Stansted"] arrive at Tottenham Hale by a
variety of modes:

Already on the train from Stratford or Liverpool St.
Victoria Line
Walk
Cycle
Bus
Taxi
Taxy dad/mum/friend
....and perhaps nowadays even whatever Boris Bikes are called this week.

The least likely is their own car, because I don't think the station has
a car park. And since the most recent "improvement" to NRES website,
it's barely possible any more to look that up.
