YouTube just decided to show me this.

<https://youtu.be/HJFuM-XPY5A?si=AG0vc01QwjOgvHEG>

One of those trains, the northbound Pendolino, is likely to be the trainset
a friend was going to catch in the opposite direction. They were booked on
the 14:52 from Edinburgh which is formed of the service arriving at 14:19.
As it was the incoming service didn’t arrive until 16:00 (and 3/4):

<https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C88504/2024-01-18/detailed#allox_id=0>

The 14:52 was cancelled the incoming trainset replaced whatever was
supposed to form the 16:52. My friend got home exactly 2 hours late. They
travel quite a lot for work and have the delay repay form saved on their
phone for easy access.

The video above shows some of the reason for lateness but the northbound
train, 9S54 formed of 390117, was 17 minutes late leaving Euston, about the
same late arriving at Wolverhampton having lost and then gained some time
around Birmingham, and then spent nearly an hour at Wolves, so it was
already an hour and a quarter late at that point before losing more time to
signalling further north.

Anyone know what happened at Wolverhampton?

Sam
