None of that matters, for the far right loonies it's like a religion -
they have faith that it's not real - and faith requires no evidence and
any evidence to the contrary is a conspiracy of some sort. The lefty
loonies think we can stop using oil tomorrow and we can all live on
avocados while flying the rainbow flag, dancing around in Birkenstocks
and defacing artworks while living on the dole. They're even worse.

Even most center right people accept climate change is real and there is
certainly a real debate to be had about how we go about reducing
emissions and addressing global warming - but IMO the ship has sailed
and while also doing what we can to reduce our impact we need to
seriously look at addressing what is to come in terms of changes to the
planet. It's not going away so we need to deal with it.

Mind you the next mass extinction event is likely to be caused at the
press of a button rather than climate change the way things are going in
the world.

Coal is going, regardless of politics. In WA, the mine supplying the
power station has gone bankrupt, and in spring and autumn, it is not
needed anyway, due to huge amount of solar power. In the eastern states,
the machines are old and breaking down. Nobody is going piss away money
to keep them going another 50 years.

Odd. Climate predictions made in the early 80s have certainly come true.
True though, getting rid of a billion or so humans will have a
noticeable effect and, between covid and recent wars, we might soon
approach that number. Unfortunately those events hinder the world's
efforts in growing food. Might be a problem down the track.

I would suggest the best course of action is to implement measures to
offset the effects of what's causing the problem, so we don't have to

I've never studied the issue, like you obviously have. as I've said, I
just object to being told I have to do this or that, or not do this or
that, to 'save the planet' when what we're told won't make any
difference. it's been said that if every car in Australia disappeared

the big polluters, India, China, and the USA who need to take severe
measures, since they can make a difference, not us.
