This says it all...
https://tinyurl.com/2yhynrap
They want to inject waste CO2 into underground artesian reservoirs.

CO2 dissolves in water (and damp rocks) to produce acidity with risky
consequences. (Like dissolving heavy-metal salts.)

Cui Bono?

1/ Not the farmers.
2/ The Climate-Warming Geeks & Nerds.
3/ The plethora of Uni graduates seeking topics for publication.
4/ The sensationalist media, with all those distressed-looking TV
Bimbos.
5/ The miners, all getting "favorable publicity".
6/ The politicians, vote farming.

The CO2 belongs in the atmosphere, where this nutritious gas can feed
trees and crops.

Why yes it does and thank you for recognizing it's value as a
critical plant nutrient!

The problem with this argument, that it is "plant food", is that
increasing CO2 has been shown to beneficial to plants in controlled
experiments. The reaction of plants to increased CO2, when other
variables are controlled, is positive.

The problem is that in real life, other variables are not controlled,
and they too change. The benefit that additional CO2 in the
atmosphere has to plants, is based on the totality of changes that
this brings about. To complicate things further, a benefit to plants
does not necessarily translate to a benefit for us.

The overall valuation of the benefit or cost of additional CO2 must
factor all changes and it here where things become murky. Increased
growth increases pest population. Plants grow where the climate is
favourable, and changes to this will impact the species living there.
Plants rely on support from their ecosystem, which will change.

Its a wierd argument this "plant food" one, because anyone, anyone who
has grown any plant in their life would know that success isn't based
on just maximising the water, sunshine and CO2 the plant has access
to.

Don't believe that and the heads that matter in the electorates where
the artesian basin water matters are coalition seats anyway.

But only in quite small clusters in the entire artesian
basin and the iron isnt in the form of salts.
