They had a working airport, with working cargo facilities, to land at, and
take off from again. They could have a continual stream of aircraft from
just over the border, within propeller-aircraft range, keeping the
operation running 24/7. They didn’t have a potentially hostile “ally”
controlling the territory they were trying to service, armed with anti-
aircraft missiles, who could have objected to this intervention.

I am unaware of the Allies providing humanitarian aid to Germany or
Japan DURING the war.
