**Yeah, it sure is. Kinda reminds me of the time one of my tech mates
ran up the arse of a Triumph Herald, whilst riding his motor bike. The
Triumph was a write-off and had to be towed. My mate rode his bike home.
Old Pommy cars were not great. The MG TC was a seriously flimsy car.

Interesting. I don't see some of these posts originally. I suspect
Eternal September is having some issues picking up posts, and has been
for a while.

Not that I'm a huge MG fan, but I liked some. The V8 MG-B's were kinda
cool, and the MG-A was a very nice looking car. Not sure on what model
this is. Maybe a TD? Don't know why you'd want an MG that didn't have
wire wheels with knock offs.

Also, your comment that a motorbike would be safer is absolutely
ludicrous. Ask me how I know :)

Your Jeep would have one.

> I`d own an old MG in an instant!. Guess it`ll be the bike for now. (for safety) ;)

Lol :)

Just thinking of the list of injuries I've suffered because of the
inherent "built in safety" features of your average motorcycle:

Fractured skull.
Broken Jaw.
Broken cheekbone.
Broken arm.
Broken leg.
Broken collarbones.
Broken ribs.
Fractured wrists.
Fractured Pelvis.
Broken back.
Fractured ankle.
Various cuts, lacerations and contusions.

Oh yeah. I can see how someone could look at even the most rickety old
car and conclude that a bike was a safer option.

For fuck's sake.... :)

Just to clue you in here Felix, there is no such thing as a "safe car".
Only varying degrees of "less safe".

The old MG would not be anywhere near as safe as anything made today,
but that doesn't mean you're automatically going to die just by driving it.

No, that's right. There's not. There's only every solid object you hit,
both moving and stationary, when you get chucked over the bars instead.

Sometimes I think you and Felix are in a secret competition to see who
can come up with the most ridiculous statements :)

As I said I dont think so. Maybe i did, wasn`t something that concerned me enough to find out.
A lot of cars i`ve owned were 30`s to 50`s...
I`ve never owned a MG, but, have ridden in plenty. (and driven a few.)
Great little cars for mine. My dad had one....
Well, i`m off for coffee, (on the Yammy) ;)

Hmmm, he claims to own a Jeep Cherokee. It has a collapsible steering
column. The double u-jointed steering shaft gives it away. Designed upon
frontal impact to allow the steering box to twist which will, in turn,
swing the steering wheel up towards the windscreen. IIRC, they also have
an upper collapsible shaft. Pretty much every car had something like
that from the 80s or thereabouts. Became an absolute necessity to use a
steering wheel puller when removing the steering wheel from the column
else you would damage the collapsible shaft.

The interesting thing about old MGs like the TC models, was that the
exposed front wheels tended to climb up on any other vehicle hit in a
1/4 collision, then roll over. The Jeep Wranglers continue the tradition
to this very day - even when the wheel on the accident side is ripped
clean off.

Darren, just because *you* have no clue how to operate a motorcycle

Nothing astonishes Noddy so much as common sense and plain dealing.

if you're a safe rider, the biggest danger with motorcycles is being hit
by a motorist. I recall some time ago on the news a motorbike rider was
stopped at traffic lights in a line of cars and was hit and killed by
the car behind, who failed to stop and squashed him into the the car
infront. you don't even need to be riding to be killed!

Being a safe rider is no different to being a safe driver. You can do
everything within your power to minimise your chances of coming to
grief, but you have zero control of the morons around you. The problem
there for bike riders is because they are not as obvious on the road as
your average car/van/truck they are statistically more likely to be
involved in a collision.

I used to love bike riding, but it comes at a price. It makes no
difference how cautious a rider you are, you're always at the mercy of
the idiots you share the road with and there are some total whackjobs
out there these days. Most of my bike injuries come from off road use,
but the more serious ones are the result if idiots not paying attention.
Like people who drive through stop signs or pull out of kerbside parks
without looking, or just generally being blissfully unaware of the world
around them.

As you mentioned, you can be doing everything right and be taken out by
some moron who's texting on their phone and not paying attention. That
has nothing to do with how good a rider you are, and everything to do
with being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

You were carrying all that (useless to you) information around in yer melon eh?
Ya know, All this googling just shows you up as a twat...
Pretty much every car had something like

*AN absolute necessity*, Nup, ive had the wheel off mine. The parts car one was better!.
Used the tried and true method. (Not that you would know *what
* that may be.)

Forget my Jeep for a minute, Are you really saying *every* car since the `80s* needs a puller to remove the steering wheel???
Not so, Take yer theory and *shove* it...Yer *inexperience* is showing.. (relying on *transferred* knowledge wiil show you up every time.. )
