What's needed to sell a car privately, these day? just a roadworthy
certificate? no other taxes or fees? my Lancer is worth more now than
what I paid for it new!

As with real estate, if you are selling and buying in the same market,
there is no real gain. The replacement will cost you more than your
current car did when new.

Nothing astonishes Noddy so much as common sense and plain dealing.

because the second hand value of my car is so high, the gap between what
I could sell it for and the cost of a new car can be small. viz.. if i
get top dollar for the lancer, say $21k, and I get a good deal on the
ASX, which retails at $27,990 on road, say $26k, I could pay only $5k
for a significant upgrade. and if I buy a demo or near new, only a few
$K. I think the gap between second hand and new has never been less than
it is now.

I drove one. there's no discounts available as it's a sellers market at
present with wait times of up to six months
