About bloody time. Now I just have to wade through pages of information
to work out how to use all of it's features.

Got lucky with this apparently. The ship it was on didn't have any
quarantine issues, but ships either side of it did and it's causing
delays of up to three months.

Yeah, me too :)

It's certainly a smooth, comfortable and quiet car for a ute, and I
enjoyed the drive home. Great seats, awesome seat heaters and it's voice
recognition is excellent and allows you do control many things in the
vehicle by voice activation which is great.

Time will tell I guess. The first acid test is going to be learning
about about it's many bells & whistles and how you go about controlling
them.

It's a Ford, it probably won't be. Hell of a lot better than a Nissan
Navara however. No wait list on a Navara, that should tell you
something. Both the (former) Navara owners here seem to have learnt
their lesson. ;-)

Ford have already had to replace 9 of them for electrical issues they
could not resolve. Wonderful.

Well the Ranger is the new small penis compensating vehicle of choice
for classless bogans according to John Cadogan. Hard to argue with that
sentiment given the evidence presented in here :-)

I would never buy a Ford. not because they're not good cars, maybe they
are I don't know, but simply because I could never trust any Ford dealer
to service it properly, or Ford to support their customers with any
issues. From my experience Ford dealerships employ the biggest bunch of
bogans, shoddy sales persons, and know-nothing morons you're likely to
find anywhere. that's consistent with their customer base tho I guess.

A design team of Michelangelo, Rodin & Sergio Pininfarina couldn't make
*any* DCU look "nice". And anyway, if someone accidentaly *did* make one
that "looked nice" then no one would buy it. No sensible people would
touch it and the current, overwhelming demographic, are bogans with
personality disorders who'd shuffle a mile to avoid anything "nice". They
want vehicles that are big, tough and brutish. Just like they aren't.

It's a dual cab ute. None of them look nice. Still, if having a pretty
car was important to me I'd buy something else.

Maybe Land Rover should concentrate less on styling and more on build
quality since they are down there with Jeep being the most unreliable
vehicles on the road.
Styling of utes seems to be following US designs and that IMHO isn't a
good thing not that too many people but those vehicles for their styling.

There seems to be a competition among car manufacturers as to who can
make the fugliest front end. Once Lexus had the field to itself, then
Mercedes got in on the act by putting teeth on the front, now BMW have
joined in by blowing up their traditional radiator shape to monstrous
proportions.

The original reason for putting chrome on the front of the car was that
it doesn't get chipped by flying gravel like paint does.

vehicle "prettiness" is highly subjective as we all know :)

Personally I see nothing attractive about a Range Rover at all, but then
some others see them as sex on wheels.

The Dodge Ram certainly isn't attractive that's for sure, but in my
opinion *the* ugliest vehicle I've seen in recent times is one of these:

Someone here in town owns one which is either exactly the same as that
or near enough to it, and it's ten times more hideous in the flesh than
it is in pics. Some people want to complain about large trucks, this
thing looks like the packing crate my Ranger came in :)

Yep. They're hideous.

Interesting thing is that the V6 in my Ford Ranger started life in a
Range Rover where they had heaps of trouble with it. It's called the
"Lion" engine, and Ford got hold of it and sorted it out. It first
appeared to us under the Ford badge as the 2.7 litre diesel fitted to
the Ford Territory, and in subsequent mods it got upgraded to 3 litres
and spent the last 3 years in the F-150 in the US where it's apparently
earned a reputation as being very good.

My initial impressions of it after a mere 80km are that it's quite
smooth and refined. It's *very* quiet and unless someone told you you
wouldn't know it's a diesel at all. It's quite linear although I'm sure
the 10 speed trans goes a long way to give that impression, and while
it's no power house in terms of blistering off the line acceleration it
moves along quite nicely.

I'm looking forward to towing a load with it and seeing how well the
600nm does it's job.

I don't think there are too many good looking cars of any kind these
days, and it's like there's a competition amongst manufacturers to see
who can make the ugliest thing around and still have people want to own it.

Mercedes Benz and Lexus are clear leaders in this field :)

Agreed. They're all doing it these days, and some of the stuff they come
up with is *woeful*. I saw a woman drive past me in a carpark the other
day in a relatively new Beemer and I just shook my head and thought
"Wow. You must *really* want a BMW to put up with owning something
*that* ugly".

I take back everything I ever said about your MX-5. Compared to anything
around today it's positively stylish :)

> The original reason for putting chrome on the front of the car was that
> it doesn't get chipped by flying gravel like paint does.

To a degree. It doesn't mark as easily as paint but it still marks, and
when it does unlike paint it can't be touched up. It's a very thin layer
of evaporated chrome over black plastic, and it gets pock marked with
black dots once road debris breaks through the chrome.

It is for someone with no income. I suspect it's the wifes money.

That's the whole purpose of that 10 speed trans. Keeps the revs in the
*sweet spot* for either power or economy. I note that in this trans 7th
gear is direct. 8, 9 and 10 are overdrive. The wide gear spread is
necessary in a load carrying vehicle and the 3 overdrive ratios keep the
fuel consumption reasonable. I note they are *still* having issues with
it but fobbing off buyers with - *"it's normal operation"*. Yeah, right!

Nothing astonishes Noddy so much as common sense and plain dealing.
