Yes. Push the hose up as you do it as it makes it a lot easier to turn the
ring.

Of course if it’s not been disconnected for ages it might not self seal as
well as intended. Ideally you should do a leak test with a manometer
whenever a connecting is broken and remade.

How long are you planning to disconnect for, and do you (the OP) have a
manometer?

If in doubt, fit a blanking plug, and test for leaks with soap water.
