I have a single gang 47mm deep pattress which held one RJ45 through
connector and plug and now needs to hold two more. Even with just a
second through connector and plug the pattress is overfull.

How can I increase the capacity? Is there a way to add, say, 25mm to the
depth or change to a two-gang pattress without having to drill the tiles
the single is on?

Is that deep enough to take euromodules etc?

Adding 25 mm maybe a bit unsightly without ‘digging’ into the wall. You can
get spaces - as someone else suggested- but these typically add 10 or
perhaps 15mm. You end up with a ‘box on the wall’ look.

Drilling tiles isn’t too bad, if you take your time. Or use an angle
grinder with a suitable disc to cut part of the tile and drill, chisel the
rest.

If the wall is brise block or similar, once the tile is clear, the rest is
easy. You can buy a guide to drill a series of holes in a pattern and then
chisel out the rest. I tend to eyeball it but the guide probably helps.

Do you actually mean a pattress (surface mounted box) and not a back box
(sunk into the wall)?

If it really is a pattress, just undo the screws holding it to the wall
and, using the same holes, screw a 2-gang pattress to the wall. Even if
the holes don't line up, you can drill new holes in the pattress.
